Eight months after the separation, co-parenting has gone well.
Until your daughter asks why there are two homes, and you dont know what to say.
They probably rushed it, one year dating, then married not so long after. Then they have their daughter the next year. It made sense at the time.
But somewhere between daycare pick-ups and late-night emails, the space widened. They laughed less. They tried to fix i, date nights, counseling, careful calendars, but the gap stayed. Even then, they were good parents.
Until one Friday when each thought the other had pickup; they were nearly an hour late. Their daughter, Nessie, didnt cry, she smiled, just glad both parents came, that hurts more than anything.
After that, Marianne asked for space before she became someone she didnt recognize. They agreed, and it's been eight months since.
They co-parent well. Their daughter tells teachers Mom-house today, Dad-house tomorrow like home is never a place, just a weather report.
